Vote for my dream photo assignment!

Hi everyone – Lenovo and Microsoft are running a great new contest. They want people to submit unique photo shoot ideas, and the winner will get $50,000 and a Lenovo W700 laptop to make their dream a reality. I have a great idea that I submitted: “Cathedrals of Europe: A Panoramic Experience of Age and Architecture”

This idea expands upon my original panoramic photo of Trinity Cathedral in Cleveland, OH:

I want to take that single photo to the next level, which includes traveling to Europe to create similar interior photos of various cathedrals. I will make large format prints available, and will also create a book with the pics that I take. To support the churches I visit, I will donate photos, books, or some sales proceeds to the churches.

But I need your help to make this dream happen. Please vote for my idea! The contest ends on 4/3/09 at 11:59:59 EST. Thanks in advance!

Cleveland Air Show

Last week I went to check out the Cleveland National Air Show from a co-worker’s downtown loft. The weather was perfect, and we had a great view from the roof. I was able to get a bunch of pics. Here are a few good ones:

Looks like Microsoft has released a product called Photosynth. The photosynth.com site is down due to high traffic, though some info can be found here:

Also, here’s a video about Photosynth….looks quite interesting. What do you guys think?

Panoramas to be displayed at Baldwin-Wallace College

Great news – the Admission and Dean’s Offices at Baldwin-Wallace College have each decided to display my large 180-degree panoramas for a year! The Trinity Cathedral interior panorama will be hung in the Admission Office, and the Emerald Necklace Marina panorama will be hung in the Dean’s Office. The prints that they’ll be displaying were the same ones that were in the 2008 B-W Student Art Show, and they are 5′ long (or 6′ long in their frames). Stop by the Bonds Administration Building at B-W to see them sometime!

It was great to meet everyone, and I really enjoyed seeing all the great projects that so many students have worked on this past year. My photography @ Baldwin-Wallace College

So my final year at Baldwin-Wallace has been great….in fall semester I took an Advanced Digital Photography class, which taught me a lot. I had a couple photos published in The Mill literary magazine at B-W this spring, and had three photos accepted into the annual Student Art Exhibit.

The art show at B-W will run Monday-Friday from 2-5PM in the Fawick Art Gallery, and will also be open on Saturday, 5/3 from 11AM – 2PM or so for Ovation 2008. Ovation 2008 is a new event this year at B-W that is going to celebrate B-W student academic and artistic achievement. A student-run jazz band will be performing, and there may be segments of a musical or play performed as well. In addition, the art gallery will be open, where I will be presenting some of my work.
